PQM.net + Hive Streaming

From Stockholm to Montreal: A Partnership Born in the Field

In the first half of 2025, PQM.net and Hive Streaming were brought together on an integration for a major enterprise client — a Quebec-headquartered organization broadcasting live to tens of thousands of employees across a distributed network and multiple physical locations. What began as a technical collaboration on this one project quickly revealed a natural fit: Hive's delivery layer and PQM.net's production and platform stack complemented each other almost perfectly, and the result was an excellent experience for the client and its employees. That deployment has now been running in production for more than a year.

"Video quality plays a crucial role in any digital workplace and PQM.net is providing a complete solution from camera crew to StudioCast, their secure Canadian platform," said Niklas Haggen, CEO of Hive Streaming. "We are very excited and proud to be working with PQM.net to help streamline the live video broadcasts within global enterprises."

Peer-to-Peer Distribution, Now Native to StudioCast.ca

Most corporate networks were never provisioned to push live video to thousands of employee devices at once. The usual answer is more hardware, more bandwidth, and more cost — or, more often, a quiet decision to lower the video quality until the network stops complaining.

Hive's peer-assisted eCDN takes a different route. Instead of every device pulling the stream independently from the source, devices on the same network share the stream between themselves — dramatically reducing load on corporate WAN links while maintaining video quality at the edge. No additional hardware. No additional bandwidth provisioning. The existing network simply carries far more.

Quality That Survives the Trip to the Viewer

The real gain is what that bandwidth headroom makes possible. With peer-to-peer distribution carrying the load, StudioCast.ca can deliver the stream at full 4K without overwhelming the corporate network — which means the quality captured in the room is the quality the audience actually sees.

"Our video production has always been broadcasting grade — multi-camera, professional lighting and audio, a director calling the show live," said Louis-Philippe Landry, President of PQM.net. "What often happens in the corporate infrastructure with VPNs, etc. is that this quality got compressed when it reached the viewer. With Hive's peer-to-peer distribution built into StudioCast, that quality now travels all the way to the end user. Whether the event is 100% virtual or hybrid, the audience online finally sees and hears exactly what the audience in the room does. That's a real upgrade in experience, not a technical detail."

Integrated into StudioCast.ca, the solution also brings real-time analytics and monitoring, allowing communications and IT teams to track audience quality of experience (QoE) and network performance as the event unfolds — and to troubleshoot live rather than after the fact.

A Canadian Solution, End to End

For enterprises and government organizations navigating data sovereignty requirements, the partnership answers a question that has become considerably more pressing: where does the data live, and who controls the chain?

Under the partnership, clients benefit from:

  • Canadian data hosting across StudioCast.ca and StudioCast.Ai, ensuring full data sovereignty and compliance with domestic privacy regulations
  • ISO/IEC 27001-certified operations, covering PQM.net's platforms and production workflows
  • Peer-to-peer delivery at scale through Hive's eCDN, without new hardware or bandwidth investment
  • Full 4K broadcast quality from capture to employee device
  • Market-leading analytics for real-time monitoring and troubleshooting during live events
  • White-glove service from pre-production planning through live execution and post-event delivery
  • On-site presence, backed by PQM.net's studios in Montreal and Rimouski and its network of production partners across Canada, the U.S., Asia, and Europe

PQM.net, Building Momentum

The partnership builds on a period of accelerated growth for PQM.net, following the acquisition of Agence Webdiffusion (AWD), the opening of its Montreal studio, and its ISO/IEC 27001 certification.
